Katie McQuaid
Was Research Associate - Katie is currently conducting two years of doctoral fieldwork in Uganda. Her doctoral studies are based in the Department of Anthropology at the School of Global Studies, University of Sussex. Katie holds an MA (honours) in Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh. Since completing an MA in the Anthropology of Conflict, Violence and Conciliation at the University of Sussex she has been focusing upon the ways in which refugees and asylum seekers represent their experiences, and how they interact with human rights discourses. Upon being awarded an Economic and Social Research Council (UK) Studentship in 2009, Katie has undertaken an MSc in Cross-Cultural and Comparative Research Methods and begun work on her doctorate exploring the 'Structures of Suffering' of refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo in Uganda.
