Old Age in Exile: The Case of Uganda
Mental Health & Psychosocial Wellbeing / 28 April 2020 / 3059 views
Elderly refugees have assumed the role of caring for orphans and vulnerable children, as well as their sick and incapacitated children. However, there is a general lack of understanding of the needs and vulnerabilities of older refugees in their role as primary caregivers in Uganda's refugee population. Despite the many challenges that come with aging, the elderly refugees have not hesitated to find creative ways of surviving and meeting the extra load they have to carry. This is a documentary about how elderly refugees strive to make ends meet in Kampala and in the refugee settlements.
