When Law Students Meet Refugee Realities
What do law students know about refugees and forced migration, what are their attitudes towards them? This clip, arising from a short training of 3rd and 4th year School of Law students, Makerere University, captures both the pre-training knowledge gap, but also the students’ post-training reflections on how the course positively changed their attitudes towards refugees and the issues affecting them. The training, together with extensive internship opportunities in our field offices, is a step towards the full integration of refugee and forced migration issues into the curricula of our mother institution, the School of Law. It is also a contribution towards ensuring that Uganda, host to the largest refugee population on the continent, is able to meet its obligations to ensure that refugees and their hosts are protected and live in dignity.
